Abstract

This chapter covers another branch of electrochemistry where the electrode voltage and current are used to determine properties or identify species in solutions or gases. In potentiometry, the voltage measurement on an indicator electrode is used to establish chemical information, identify unknown substances, and determine their concentrations.
