Abstract

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET’s) are short range wireless devices. In these distributed networks secure communication is the key agenda. Recently incorporating the concept of trust into distributed networks bring significant challenges. Achieving nodes cooperation in ad hoc networks is not an easy task. In this article, we proposed a novel subjective logic (SL) trust model for handling ignorance between neighbor nodes in ad hoc network. Trust Model based on SL is applied on multi path routes in a distributed environment to know the uncertainty between random entities. In this work we also highlighted that SL is not enough to evaluate multi path trust, thus providing selection operator as an SL extension. By using subjective opinion nodes can easily make trust evaluation regarding first and second hand observation. Also, the trust information exchange mechanism reduces extra routing and computation overhead. The simulated results validate the scheme, so after calculating the results based on trust judging algorithm, the path having higher trust value is selected for communication.
