Abstract

In 2007/2008, both Google and Microsoft were involved in separate projects to digitally photograph a large number of library books and make them available over the Internet. At about the same time, several hardware manufacturers brought out devices that were specifically intended for reading books. These included the iRex iLiad, Amazon's Kindle, and the Sony eBook reader. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
