Illegal logging in Indonesia is not a new problem. The problem of illegal logging has existed since the Old Order era, even before. The term illegal logging has only recently become popular, but deforestation, including illegal logging, has been going on for a long time. Generally, illegal logging or illegal logging is motivated by economic interests. People who want to get more profit, workers who cut trees, people around the forest who do illegal logging because they really need income to survive. The aim is to guarantee legal certainty and provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators of forest destruction and ensure the existence of forests in a sustainable manner while maintaining sustainability and not damaging the environment and surrounding ecosystems. Research This qualitative method can be used to uncover and understand something behind a phenomenon that is not at all known. The qualitative narrative format aims to describe, summarize various conditions, situations or various phenomena of social reality that exist in society. The elements contained in the crime of Illegal Logging include activities, logging, timber transportation, logging, logging, and the purchase of timber, which can damage the forest, as well as there are laws that prohibit and conflict with applicable laws. Illegal logging includes a series of activities in forestry related to the use and management of forests that are against the law and may damage forests. it is concluded that the people who commit the crime of illegal logging are people who do not think about the impact or influence that will arise if illegal logging is carried out or illegal logging of forest trees. The impact of illegal logging is very detrimental to the community in addition to causing natural disasters, but will also cause disasters in crises of social and economic needs.
