Autoimmune liver diseases (AILDs) are a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology that may proceed to cirrhosis, although some patients already have cirrhosis at the time of diagnosis. AILDs patients with cirrhosis have higher risks of morbidity and mortality and, in the decompensated phase, complications of portal hypertension and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Management of these patients requires knowledge of the fibrosis stage, since liver fibrosis is closely associated with prognosis. The aim of this report is to provide a current overview of liver cirrhosis in AILDs.
