Here, we describe immunohistochemical methods to stain murine adipose tissue to study the structure of adipose vasculature and angiogenesis. This chapter describes an n vivo model to study adipose angiogenesis in mice. As opposed to in vitro angiogenesis assays, the described model recapitulates vascular alterations as well as the impact on whole body energy homeostasis. We describe immunodetection using whole-mount staining with freshly fixed tissues and paraffin-embedded tissue samples for the detection of microvessels in adipose tissue.
