Design of SCADA system based on wireless communication for offshore wind farm

Abstract

This paper presents a design of SCADA system based on wireless communication for offshore wind farm, the characteristics of offshore wind power is analyzed, and communication in the traditional wind power SCADA system is described. The lower computer and the sensor within the offshore wind turbine communicate with Profibus fieldbus deigned in this paper. The communication between the offshore wind turbine and the SCADA system of the control room is wireless, so as to achieve the overall monitoring and management on the offshore wind farm and meet the function of remote monitoring and control requirements in the offshore wind farm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.
