The article examines the methodological and theoretical issues provoked by local responses to landmark trees in Australia including Leichhardt tree in Borroloola. It is mentioned that an act of arson was used to destroy the Landsborough tree in 2002 to provoke heated passions among the nearby residents in Burketown.
