Are presented a contemporary review of models for biomedical technology acquisition and a detailed description of the designed model for a public Colombian hospital with the results of its application in the buying the endowment of its intensive care unit (ICU). The amount in saving for an ICU with thirteen beds rises to 16%, taking into account that in majority of cases, the prices paid by public institutions are the prices of quotations of sellers. © 2013 Springer.
