Abstract

Laparoscopic cystectomy followed by conventional open urinary diversion has been reported by multiple investigators over the past decade (1-5). However, it was not until laparoscopic reconstructive techniques, mainly intracorporeal free-hand suturing experience, matured that laparoscopic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion performed using intracorporeal techniques exclusively was performed (5-10). Surgical steps of the laparoscopic approach follow the already established principles of oncological surgery with an effort to duplicate open conventional technique. © 2006 Humana Press Inc.
