Computing and engineering complex systems requires effective methodologies that can cater for the specific system complexities within those systems. In particular, such a methodology should address the characteristics of complex systems including openness to the environment, interactions, relationships and rules, and sociality, and should support both the analysis and design of complex problem-solving systems.
