Abstract

Polarization pulse shaping was applied to control the trajectory of twodimensional vibrational motion in α-quartz. Polarization-twisting pulses were used to impart pseudorotational motion in a degenerate E-symmetry optical phonon mode selectively through impulsive stimulated Raman scattering.
