Shannon’s Capacity Theorem

Abstract

Shannon’s channel coding theorem concerns the possibility of communicating via a noisy channel with an arbitrarily small probability of error. Its proof is based on the random coding argument, perhaps the first occurence of the probabilistic method (Chapter ).
