Homeless population: A view from interprofessional education to the non-visible

Abstract

The incorporation of students of the Program of Education through Work for Health of Vulnerable People managed by Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo into the Consultório na Rua (Street Clinic) team, in São Paulo downtown, allowed them to approach the homeless social reality and to learn about the health care specificities of this populational group. This article aims at discussing this in loco teaching-learning strategy which grants contact with the street world and with the integral care that the Street Clinic team develops within the context of intra-and intersectoral actions. The experience was relevant and contributed to the humanistic and social education of these future professionals, and also improved the work process of the health care team through the dialogue between teaching and service, thus improving the Brazilian National Health System.
