The paper reports that the membranes of N-hexanoyl and N-octanoylchitosans and hybrid membranes of collagen and N-acetylchitosan are nonthrombogenic, and chitosan membrane is thrombogenic in vivo, and a dual function of blood anti-coagulant and the activation of lipoprotein lipase is added to chitin and chitosan by sulfation.
