Abstract

RFID is nowadays a leading topic of considerable public interest at different levels. Indeed, it is a challenge to implement RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) systems successfully so that they become an integrating part of existing processes in the healthcare environment, rather than being relegated to the status of mere pilot projects. It is therefore very interesting to improve patient safety by using RFID technology to trace patients and medications, and to identify the binomial patient/medications administered at the ambulatory hospital during the process of prescription-validation-preparation/dosage-dispensing-administration of drugs to the patient.
