Abstract

The IL-1 receptor antagonist is a unique cytokine that has an important role in both normal physiology and in controlling inflammatory responses. In this review, William P. Arend details what is known about this molecule, as well as its role in the treatment of disease, based on findings from animal models and, more recently, human clinical trials.
