Abstract

The paper discusses the theoretical basis for a teacher development programme for the use of information technology in science teaching. Strategies of teacher development are described by modes (methods of implementation) and models (the view taken of the teacher in the development). A case is made for a model which is based on the needs of the teacher. There is a brief description of the outcomes of the teacher development project in terms of its fit with the development model. © 1992 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
