Abstract

The book contains up-to-date information for recent trends in feedback control of mechatronic systems. The reader’s digest is appealing to everyone, who wishes to keep abreast of the latest developments and combine interdisciplinary tools for the purpose of control. In the Industry 4.0 paradigm, control is ubiquitous but never treated in itself as a sole identity. Instead, it is part of every other trending concept within the paradigm. The book presents a fractional calculus application to visual-based feedback systems. As most of the mechatronic systems are in essence non-linear, the intrinsic robustness of the fractional-order control design and properties allow great robustness to plant mismatch, which is an important feature of real-life systems. The applications presented in this book are challenging and percutaneous to the control design effort. Furthermore, the non-linearities present in the mechatronic systems, typically dead-band, variable delays, gain variations and rate limiters are all addressed in the book and solutions are presented for the user.
