What should be the quasinormal modes associated with a spacetime that contains a naked singularity instead of a black hole? In the present work we address this problem by studying the scattering of scalar fields on a curved background described by a Reissner-Nordström spacetime with q > m. We discuss the necessary conditions for the well-posedness of the problem, and give some numerical results for low l. The talk "Quasinormal modes from a naked singularity" was presented at the Spanish Relativity Meeting 2012 and was based on the results presented in Chirenti et al. (Phys. Rev. D 86:124008, 2012). © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
