Abstract

Bronchiolitis obliterans, a serious lung disease, arises in microwave popcorn plant workers who are exposed to butter-flavored volatiles, particularly diacetyl. Findings indicate that chronic inhalation of butter-flavoring volatiles compromises lung epithelial barrier function (Fedan et al. 2006). © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
