Abstract

Background: Manggar Raya Village is one of the villages located in Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. Manggar Raya village is one of the coconut producers, but the community has used only coconut meat and water to sell. Meanwhile, the coconut fibres are allowed to become waste by the village community. Collaborative Service Activities with students of ındependent real-work lectures aim to assist in the manual processing of coconut fiber waste into coco fiber and coco peat. Method: Participants in the activity were 21 residents of Manggar Raya Village. The method used in community service activities is a participatory method, including providing material, practice, discussion and evaluation. The Results: The results of this service activity showed a positive response from the activity participants. Participants were satisfied with the activities and knowledge of waste treatment provided. Conclusion: It is hoped that this activity can be continued by students of ındependent real-work lectures students, especially those from Manggar Raya Village. One day, it can become the centre of the coconut fibre processing industry in South Sumatra.
