Abstract

Advocates the use of well-drawn maps that are not too full of information. Examples include flood frequency, and a range of maps based on Quaternary surficial deposits or soil maps, which are designed to indicate relative suitability for development and/or septic tanks (based on permeability), sand and gravel resources, and land use limitation. The examples are drawn from an area near Oneonta, New York. -K.Clayton
