It has become increasingly more common for the obstetrician and nephrologist to be involved in the dialytic care of a pregnant woman. With the advent of increasingly more advanced techniques in dialysis, dialyzing a pregnant woman has resulted in better outcomes for both the mother and the fetus. In this chapter, we review the indications for dialysis, how to decide which modality choice is preferable, and discuss common dialysis prescriptions that can be utilized for the pregnant woman on dialysis. Although extremely challenging, the multidisciplinary team approach and close communication can resultin successful outcomes.
