Abstract

Different types of violence that come together in the school area, causing an increase of risk for infantile maltreatment, were investigated. In the first stage of the study four schools from the City of Buenos Aires, two kindergarten and two elementary schools, were raffled off from two districts selected by their differences in social class (middle and low). Correlation between potential of maltreatment, rearing History, socio-economic and educational level of the mother, overcrowding and child behaviour and emotional problems were found. By means of regression analysis, specific models were obtained for both groups of the sample. Social, institutional and interaction between peers (children violence) were also found. In the report carried out in the second stage, correlation between potential of maltreatment, depression, social support were found. Intervention programs for parents, teachers and authorities have been implemented in one of the kindergartens, trying to analyse the variables of change and those that resisted it.
