Technology Trends: Working Life with ‘Smart Things’

Abstract

This chapter examines current information technology trends, including mobile, wearable and distributed computing, social networks, crowdsourcing, the Internet-of-Things, and social machines, and discuss their current and potential incremental and transformative influence on daily life and work using such tech- nology. We outline several scenarios of working life, and raise questions and issues about the future of the working life.
