Abstract

The article discusses ethical challenge amid the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. Topics discussed include need to wise use of knowledge to improve the lives and health of people at both individual and population levels; science and dynamics of socio-political economic influences on health and disease; and need for improved surveillance/response capacities and improved communication and community engagement to build trust.
