Global Sourcing: An Overview of Offshore Investment Strategies

Abstract

Global sourcing has emerged as a major challenge for companies–small and large-in recent years. A multitude of factors make off-shore sourcing an attractive alternative to domestic procurement and internalized production. This paper discusses the trends underlying global sourcing practices and it presents a conceptual presentation of internal versus external sourcing decisions.
