Abstract

The connections of the substantia nigra in rat have been extensively studied. Nevertheless the connections towards the subthalamic and sensory trigeminal nuclei were incidentally researched. This research showed that both the subthalamic and trigeminal nucleus received a bilateral projection of the substantia nigra and a point to point relation could be discerned for both nuclei, indicating that a topical relation between the substantia nigra and these nuclei exists. © 2010 International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering.
