Abstract

Spinal cord arteriovenous malformations (SCAVMs) are rare congenital lesions that account for less than one-third of all spinal vascular lesions. These lesions represent a unique clinical challenge, in that traditional microsurgical and endovascular techniques are often associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Advances in radiosurgical techniques have allowed for safe and effective treatment of SCAVMs. This chapter summarizes the data available regarding radiosurgical treatment of SCAVMs.
