Abstract

The Youla-parameterized controller design is a very effective design method to control stable processes. It designs the controller in open-loop to ensure the best reachable reference signal tracking even in case of processes containing big dead time. Disturbance rejection is realized by supplementing the structure with IMC, Internal Model Control. The properties of Youla parameterized controller design are discussed and it is shown that other usual controller design methods (as PID, dead-beat, SMITH predictor) can be considered as special cases of Youla parameterization.
