Abstract

The presence of several transaminase enzymes has been demonstrated in Cuscuta reflexa and C. campestris. The activity of glutamate–aspartate transaminase in Cuscuta and host plants was measured. At least part of the transaminase activity of C, campestris and C. reflexa is located on the mitochondria. The presence of glutamic dehydrogenase in C. reflexa was demonstrated. An evolutionary scheme is postulated for the parasitism of Cuscuta. Copyright © 1963, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
