Abstract

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the meaning, principles of creation, and rubrication of the e-collection “Repressed Literature” from the materials of the former special fond at the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine; to distinguish its specifics as compared to the library collection “Rehabilitated Literature” from the former special fond at the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine; and to briefly cover the history and contents of the last one. The methodology is based on a systemic-structural approach, comparative and descriptive methods, as well as theoretical generalizations drawn from practical experience in developing and maintaining an e-collection. Scientific novelty consists in the consideration of digital humanities, namely the e-collection as a way of the presentation and scientific attribution of materials from book special fonds. This greatly expands traditional possibilities, such as the compilation of bibliographic indexes and catalogues, book exhibitions, etc. Secondly, it includes the theoretical generalization of the experience of creating the first e-collection of materials from book special funds. Conclusions. Special fonds are the subject of research interest of scientists in various fields; e-collections have all the necessary semantic tools for the most accurate presentation of the originals of the special fonds in the form of e-documents (preserving all the features needed for researchers, especially, marginalia made by censors) and for their primary scientific attribution (modern annotations, notes, a system of related headings, etc.). It will make it easier for scientists to work with the materials of the book special fond, and as for ordinary users, it will help them better understand the specificity and the cultural and historical significance of these materials. The e-collection of materials of the book special fond should be classified according to the chronology of publications, genres (scientific, artistic, educational, journalistic, etc.) and subgenres (scientific literature – according to the fields of knowledge; fiction – according to the genres: poetry, prose, drama, etc.). Currently, the e-collection “Repressed Literature” is represented by more than 100 properly attributed full-text e-originals on Ukrainian fiction. In the near future, books on literary studies, economics, and sociology are planned to be added to the collection.
