Abstract

We propose a 2D method based on a comics art style analysis to generate stylized comics pictures from photographs. We adapt the line drawing and the colorization according to the depth of each object to avoid depthless problems. Our model extracts image structures from the photograph, generates automatically a depth map from them and performs a rendering to give a comics style to the image. Different comics styles have been realized and are presented. Results prove that this model is suitable to create comics pictures from photographs. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2008.
