Abstract

Due to the characteristics of Peer-to-Peer systems, SQL query processing in these systems is more complex than traditional distributed DBMS. In this context, semantic and structural heterogeneity of local schemas create a real problem for locating data sources. Schema heterogeneity prevents peers to exchange their data in a comprehensive way. It could lead to incorrect answers for the localization query. In this paper, we propose O-Chord method which integrates domain ontology in Chord protocol [22]. This integration provides comprehensive data exchange while carrying out efficient data sources localization. Our proposed method allows Chord protocol to select the relevant data sources to answer the localization query. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2008.
