Abstract

focuses on the psychological treatment of adolescents with nonbipolar, nonpsychotic depression, e.g., major depressive disorder (MDD) or dysthymia (DY), as specified in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-III-Revised (DSM-III-R) review the most frequently observed psychosocial, personal, and psychopathological problems associated with unipolar depression / review most of the major psychological approaches currently used in the treatment of adolescent depression, providing for each a brief summary of the major theoretical premises and their relationship to the specific strategy and tactics of the treatment psychodynamic therapy / cognitive-behavioral therapy / problem-solving therapy / interpersonal psychotherapy / self-control therapy / family therapy / miscellaneous therapy (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
