Three cases of widespread and persistent intense convective storms are examined. It is shown that synoptic-scale meteorological settings attending these events did not fit classic severe storm patterns that have been extensively documented in the literature. The analyses suggest that lower-tropospheric warm advection dominated mid-tropospheric differential vorticity advection in forcing upward vertical motion that triggered and organized the convective events.-from Authors
