Measurements in shear are widely used to characterize rheological properties of polymer melts. The various modes as stressing, oscillatory, and creep experiments in shear are presented and the rheological quantities obtained from them are discussed. Interrelations between rheological functions from different experiments are described. Special attention is dedicated to capillary rheometry and its importance for processing.
