Abstract

Protecting and safeguarding cultural heritage today is unthinkable without the Internet. The communication of this heritage focuses attention above all on something of particular value, often linked to mechanisms of management and economics, and thus not only cultural. Our proposal for the historic centre of Pescara and its twentieth century city is to promote its preservation via a website developed as a Virtual Museum of the city. The project is the result of a lengthy and in-depth study of documents that allowed us to produce assertions about the state of the city in drawings and digital representations. It is also tied to the necessity of making this information public, with the objective of constantly augmenting and refining it. Our idea is that the website be used by and brought to the attention of citizens and anyone with an interest in the city of Pescara.
