Abstract

As an herbal medicine, Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza Salvia miltiorrhiza) has been studied since a long time ago. Particularly, the extraction and application of some liposoluble substances in Danshen were recorded in Emergency Formulas to Keep Up One’s Sleeve [1], compiled by Ge Hong (281–341) and in Liu Juan-zi’s Ghost-Bequeathed Formulas [2] (published in the fifth century).
