Abstract
East Africa is a region which has long attracted attention in relation to the Rift Valley system. The coastal sedimentary basins have been surveyed in the course of hydrocarbon exploration, and the adjoining oceanic depths have been the subject of geophysical surveys and sampling by the DSDP operation.
