Abstract
The chapter provides an overview of risk factors associated with contracting HIV/AIDS and prevalence data. Research-based approaches to assessing risk factors and preventing HIV are discussed, including components of HIV prevention that are supported by extant research. The chapter concludes with a discussion of gaps in the research.
