Abstract

Early diagnosis leading to relevant treatment and appropriate psychoeducation is crucial to the role of an early intervention in psychosis (EIP) team. However, diagnostic uncertainty in first-episode psychosis in young people has to be acknowledged. Here, the authors examine the frequency with which diagnoses of psychotic disorders change between entry and exit from an EIP team and the practical implications for relevant psychoeducation.
