Abstract

The general practioner should be able to diagnose and to treat the generalized anxiety disorder. The pschycopharmacologic intervention, associated to a more receptive and relaxing posture allow the comprehension of the psychic nature of the anxiety symptoms, in addition to facilitate to direct the patient, when required, to the mental health especialist. The treatment of anxiety disorders is composed by the use of medicines and the indication of psychotherapy. The use of each one or the association of both depends on the patient evaluated. The diagnostic evaluation should consider the severity of the symptoms as well as the prejudice in the social activities and health related quality of life. © Copyright Moreira Jr. Bditora.
