Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discussed the potential of the new and emerging solutions that might be successfully applied for improvement of manufacturing system management in highly volatile environment of today's global economy. In order to remain competitive in the market manufacturing companies have to provide a quick-response to crisis economy shifts. Authors discuss the conditions that have to be met by new standards of IT systems supporting the operations management. The main characteristics of new IT solutions are defined. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
