The Perspectives of Provision of New Quality of Growth of Economic Systems in the Digital Economy

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the research is to substantiate the perspectives of provision of new quality of growth of economic systems in the digital economy and to develop the scientific recommendations for their practical implementation. Design/Methodology/Approach: The authors use the methods of economic statistics (econometrics) – in particular, trend analysis, calculation of direct average, and building the regression curves. The research objects are developed countries from Major advanced economies (G7) and developing countries from BRICS. The information and analytical basis of the research includes statistical materials of Cornell University, INSEAD, WIPO, Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the United Nations Development Programme, the IMD, and the International Monetary Fund for 2013 and 2018. Findings: The perspectives of provision of new quality of economic systems’ growth in the digital economy are determined. This allows expanding the concept of the digital economy, which is to consider not only as a goal in itself (this approach could be applied only for developed countries) but also as a tool of provision of new quality of economic systems’ growth and a source of social (human development: Opening potential, implementation of socially important projects), ecological (sustainable development), and economic (innovative development) advantages. Originality/Value: It is shown that at present the potential of the digital economy in provision of new quality of economic systems’ growth is not realized in full, due to existence of “markets gaps” (domination of private interests over public interests, which hinders the implementation of the corresponding initiatives in entrepreneurship). The authors’ recommendations are offered for overcoming them. These recommendations will allow reducing the disproportions in development of the modern economic systems not only at the macro-level but also at the micro-level, creating significant advantages for each human.
