Abstract

The purpose of this short review is to discuss how fatigue of an athlete can be limited by using recent innovations in sport engineering. Through a general definition and illustrations in some locomotions, several aspects of fatigue limitation will be presented: shocks reduction, influence of weight, distribution of muscular work and efficiency. In the second and third parts, recent textile innovations aiming at decreasing fatigue by different ways (elastic compression stocking, drag, temperature regulation) and new equipments dedicated to improve recovery will be illustrated. © 2006 Springer-Verlag New York.
