Abstract

This chapter is about identifying the sources of better.NET practices. The focus is on the areas of.NET development and general software development that provide an opportunity to discover or learn about better practices. Think of this chapter as providing a large-scale map that gives you the basic geography. Broadly speaking, the sources of better practices include: Understanding problems, issues, defects, or breakdowns Looking at the interconnected events and behaviors of development Finding sources of appropriate patterns, conventions, and guidance Applying tools and technologies New ideas, innovations, and research
