Abstract

The need of innovative solutions for new engineering system structures has brought interest of investigators and developers for systematic innovation. The potential of knowledge-based engineering using the advanced morphological approach (AMA) is discussed in this paper. This approach is evaluated in a case study of new engineering solutions in aerospace. Based on this case study, the proposed approach shows a significant potential in comparison with competing methods. The structural synthesis and parametric optimization programs resulting from this approach can be implemented into Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
