Abstract

This chapter briefly surveys the current situation of AI with respect to its human and social effects, and to its risks and challenges. It presents a few global initiatives regarding ethical, social and legal aspects of AI. It introduces the remaining chapters of the book and briefly discusses a global cooperation framework on AI and its governance.
